What is an aed certification?

An AED certification, or Automated External Defibrillator certification, is a course that teaches individuals how to properly operate an AED and how to perform CPR. This certification is usually required for healthcare professionals, but it can also be obtained by those who want to be prepared in case of a cardiac emergency.

The course typically covers the following topics:

  1. Understanding the function and purpose of an AED
  2. Identifying and responding to a cardiac emergency
  3. Performing CPR and using an AED
  4. Recognizing the signs and symptoms of a heart attack and sudden cardiac arrest
  5. Proper maintenance and storage of an AED

Upon successful completion of the certification course, individuals are usually awarded a certificate that is valid for a specified period of time, usually 2 years. It is recommended that individuals renew their certification before it expires to ensure that their knowledge and skills are up to date.
